...by their behavior in the internet. Man can act very nicely in the internet, but IRL he's evil. Girl may act like a complete crazy fangirl in the internet, but IRL she's a very nice person.
We should less base our vision on people by their fanbases.
You shoudln't think that all bronies are ponyfags, or that all Sonic Fans are Furry Fangirls. 
We should remember that we're all people. There is no black and white. We're all colorful, or at least just in different shades of gray.
